Supporting the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM)

Breathe Easy Baby is proud of the fact that we are a Detroit based business. We are firm believers in working with our community to enrich the lives of our children, our elderly, and the less fortunate. We believe that for a community to thrive partnerships between local organizations must be established. Businesses, schools, nonprofits, outreach programs, and others need to each play a part.

The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM) has been extending a helping hand to those in need for over 100 years. They have worked tirelessly for the past century to uplift and rebuild the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Detroit has a very long and proud history of helping people in the community. The DRMM embodies this spirit of goodwill and we very grateful and thank them for their years of service to this community.

We have been donating breathable crib mattresses to the DRMM women’s shelters. Soon all of the cribs in their shelters will be using our breathable crib mattresses. Most importantly, the SIDS rate is nearly three times greater in our inner cities than in outlying areas. According to the State of Michigan’s own reports the 2017 infant death rate for white babies was 4.8 per every 1000 live births and 14.6 for black babies. Over three times more. This is a very alarming statistic and one you don’t hear very much about.

There are many reasons for this disparity. Socio-economic factors play a significant role. Access to pre-natal care is also critical to ensuring the health of a baby. We at Breathe Easy Baby are committed to helping find ways to reduce the infant mortality rate of the babies in our community.
